Today is my last day of classes here at Georgia Tech! I'm really excited to be studying abroad for my last semester. And our graduation party is tonight :)
We had the Women's Recruitment Board annual appreciation dinner banquet on the prestigious 7th floor of the library last night. It was awesome, that place was so classy and it reminded me of the Alumni house with the mahogany walls and plush carpets, plus it had a great view of downtown Atlanta. I'll post some pictures up later, whenever I can get them loaded onto the dinosaur.
I got one of my three cavities fixed this morning. I absolutely HATE going to the dentist, it always makes me really nervous and freak out a little bit when they have to shoot the Novocaine. So now I've got to go back next Thursday to get the other two cavities fixed and there goes another $331 down the drain with the dental expenses.
I'm still waiting on medical clearance from the Peace Corps, I guess its only been like 2 months since I submitted my paperwork and the process can take up to 9 months so I just need to be patient. And I technically wouldn't be leaving for another like 4 months anyways (my departure date is September) so I guess my files won't be prioritized until like July. Its going to be weird if I am abroad when I get an official Invitation, hopefully my parents don't throw out the mail from the Peace Corps -- they usually throw out all of my mail, like when they threw out my ballot in 2008 and when they almost threw out my jury duty summons.
So after 14 hours of working on the senior design report on Wednesday, it ended up being 45 pages long. Plus another 18 page appendix for the User's Manual. I submitted it to our advisor for review on Thursday morning, then she returned it to us today at midnight. Not bad for a professor who has to review these final reports from 4 different senior design teams. Now I just have to make the 30+ changes that she suggested, and format the whole thing again. I hate when charts and graphs make the text chunks really awkward or leave large gaps on the page because Word formats them to overflow onto the next page.
But good news! Our spring T-day is tomorrow, where our football team has a scrimmage game and we fill the stadium with loyal GT Football fans. Our team won't be quite the same without our superstars Dwyer, Demaryius "Bebe" Thomas and Derrick Morgan though... at least 2 of them went in the 1st round NFL draft!

My senior design group finished up our final presentation to the Georgia Tech faculty yesterday... what a relief. I pulled almost 3 all nighters in a row to try to run our optimization model successfully with different scenarios, and we had lots of problems getting our network to compile and run correctly.
Now 4 of my group members are headed off to Rome, Italy to present our final presentation to our client, the World Food Programme (WFP) and all we have left is writing our final report by Monday. Our final report will probably be 100+ pages after including all of the appendices. And by we, I mean me because I am doing all the top down editing and writing it so it sounds more cohesive and connected with one voice and writing style. Our last paper, the interim report, got graded down severely for repetitive content and lack of style. But that is just what happens when 8 different people try to write 1 long technical report together.
My stupid dinosaur laptop is being really frustrating, the lcd light bulb behind the screen keeps burning out like every 30 seconds so the screen just shuts off and goes black. So I have to open and close my laptop like every 30 seconds just to get the screen to stay lit up, and its really nonproductive and makes me want to throw the computer out of my window. The good news is that my dad has agreed to get me a new computer (finally!) since I've had this one since my senior year of high school. The bad news is that there are only 2 more weeks left of school so its not worth it to get a new computer before the end of the year. The goal is to get a new computer before I leave for Singapore and my summer studying abroad :)

So last night, I interpretively danced to the song "I'll Make a Man Out of You" from Mulan as my talent act in Greek Goddess for Georgia Tech's greek week event. It was hilarious, and I thought it went pretty well... I even broke a board at the end! Unfortunately, there were a lot of girls with legit talents like singing, dancing, playing guitar, making clouds, playing the keyboard, writing musicals, etc. so I ended up finishing 5th place in the fraternities group since I was sponsored by Theta Chi.
I got my medical reimbursement checks in the mail today, which is awesome! I definitely wasn't expecting them for another month or two. I got $237 back for the all of the shots, bloodwork, dental work, and eyeglasses that cost me over $600 up front. Hopefully my parents will get reimbursed some money as well, considering that I'm still claimed as a dependent on their health insurance.
And we had our annual GT Swimming and Diving banquet tonight at Maggiano's, which was really nice. The coaches recognized the graduating class of 2010 and we actually got our letterwinner's gifts, which were nice picture frames of a photo of us swimming, the Tech "T" letter, and our names engraved. We are also getting Georgia Tech class rings as our senior gift from the Athletic Association, but they weren't ordered in time, so they'll probably be mailed to us later.

Today is the 2010 TOMS Shoes Annual "One Day Without Shoes" event!
I would be barefoot for the whole day, except I have physics lab (where you are are required to wear shoes, so I'm wearing my TOMS) and its raining outside in Atlanta today. The ground is getting kind of nasty since theres been so much pollen, the streams of water running down the sidewalk are yellow-greenish. This is an awesome movement and I respect TOMS Shoes and everything they are doing to help provide shoes to those in need :)
☮ ♥ & TOMS!
The Peace Corps returned my dental forms, requesting that I get the "recommended treatment" to get my cavities fixed before I can get dental clearance. Wonderful :( I hate going to the dentist, mostly because I had to have so many cavities fixed when I was little. I had something like 14 fillings in my mouth at one time, but luckily most of those were baby teeth. So it sounds like I'll have to shell out another $200 for the dental work.
On a side note, I spoke to my best friend from high school, Himali, last night and she told me that someone else from our old high school went to the Peace Corps. His name is Peter Clark and he just left for the Kyrgyz Republic in March, which is really exciting. I didn't know him that well in high school because he is a year older than Himali and I are, though we had a few AP classes together.
